The edible gold leaf in 8×8 cm format (loose) from Gold Gourmet allows you to get creative while impressing your guests.
Below we show you 3 popular techniques you can imitate or use as inspiration:
Technique 1: Tear out pieces
Glittery highlights just the way you want them!
Therefore, take the booklet with the gold leaf in your hands and open it carefully. Uncover half of the gold as you can see in the picture.
By doing so, you will automatically apply a slight pressure to half of the gold leaf. The slight pressure ensures that the loose gold leaf will not fall out of the booklet.
With a pair of round tongs, you can now easily tear off large and small pieces of the gold leaf and place them directly on your delicacies.
Technique 2: Guilding foods in Water
For this technique, we recommend you to work with a special brush for gold leaf. First, prepare a big enough bowl with water and put the food you want to gild on skewers.
Then carefully open the booklet with the gold leaf and hold it in one hand near the water bowl. Take the special brush in the other hand and carefully touch the gold leaf.
The static will cause the gold to immediately adhere to the brush so that you can carefully place it on the surface of the water.
Now slowly dip the food into the water in the middle of the gold as shown in the picture.
With loose gold leaf, the gold leaves are inserted into a booklet made of extra thin paper. Thereby, the gold leaves lie loose on the individual pages and can easily be removed and processed with a special brush for gold leaf.
The same applies to gold leaf transfer, where the sheets of gold are first inserted into a booklet. But now the big difference: with gold leaf transfer, the gold is pressed onto the extra thin paper until it adheres.
To process gold leaf transfer, you take the gold leaf along with the paper out of the booklet and place it on the food with the gold side down, just like a temporary tattoo. By applying gentle pressure to the back of the backing paper, the gold comes off and sticks to the food.
